NSF Response to the Presidential Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships

In compliance with the January 2021 Presidential Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships, NSF has conducted the following activities:
- NSF's engagement with Tribal Nations continues during March-May of 2022, with a series of listening sessions and a virtual room at www.NSFTribalEngagement.com
- NSF hosted a virtual Town Hall with Tribal Nations to begin the conversation on how NSF can enhance its consultation practices, with a written comment period held from March 12-June 11. A video of the Town Hall, and related materials, may be viewed below.
- NSF developed, and started implementing, its Action Plan of the National Science Foundation to Enhance Tribal Consultation (April 26, 2021), which reflected verbal and written comments from Tribal Nations and members of tribes submitted through April 14th.
- NSF’s October 2021 Progress Report or Action Plan of the NSF to Enhance Tribal Consultation describes its implementation of the action plan and anticipated next steps, with a full list of key comments received through June 11th, 2021
