IoT sensor to reduce emissions – K&A Wireless
K&A Wireless, a small business funded by the National Science Foundation, manufactures an internet-of-things (IoT) emissions sensor that is placed in a vehicle’s exhaust pipe.
Globally, 80 percent of pollution comes from the transportation sector, according to K&A Wireless President and CEO Kamil Agi. However, it’s often difficult to tell which car is polluting, which is based not on the age of the car but how the car is maintained and driven. The New Mexico-based company’s Wi-NOx™ sensor will have the ability to identify which vehicles are polluting in hopes of providing information to drivers and local governments that will ultimately reduce global emissions. K&A is also continuing its refinement of what it calls “data surety” to ensure that IoT applications show reliable data.
K&A Wireless is supported by America’s Seed Fund powered by the National Science Foundation, a nearly $200 million program that awards research and development grants to small businesses and startups, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact.
