Images and other media in the National Science Foundation Multimedia Gallery are available for use in print and electronic material by NSF employees, members of the media, university staff, teachers and the general public. All media in the gallery are intended for personal, educational and nonprofit/non-commercial use only.
Videos credited to the National Science Foundation, an agency of the U.S. Government, may be distributed freely. However, some materials within the videos may be copyrighted. NMS awardee Gabor Somorjai describes his career and the important field of environmental chemistry.
Gabor A. Somorjai, 2001 National Medal of Science Awardee, discusses his contributions to the world of molecular studies and the development of new techniques that served as foundations of new surface technologies. He says dreams were at the origin of his discoveries. He identifies the development of green chemistry as necessary to address important environmental challenges today.
