The Center for Bright Beams: A National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center
The goal of the Center For Bright Beams is to enhance the capabilities of particle beams in order to increase the reach of scientific research and to make high quality beams more accessible to research institutions, medical facilities, and industry. This means increasing the intensity of particle beams while reducing the size and cost of the particle accelerators that produce them. Particle accelerators are widespread in science, medicine and industry. Making them more capable, smaller, and less expensive requires a new understanding of beam phenomena and the material properties of accelerator components. The Center for Bright Beams uses interdisciplinary convergence research to solve these problems.
