All media in the gallery are intended for personal, educational and nonprofit/non-commercial use only.
Videos credited to the National Science Foundation, an agency of the U.S. Government, may be distributed freely. However, some materials within the videos may be copyrighted. A year after the nuclear meltdown that occurred on March 11, 2011, in Fukushima, Japan, Gregory Button, a professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is studying the scientific uncertainty surrounding that event.
For more than three decades he has researched various aspects of major disasters including environmental health, scientific uncertainty, disaster mitigation response and preparedness, disaster policy, long-term recovery, clean-up efforts, human rights and other critical issues.
