Volcano beneath West Antarctic Ice Sheet holds 6,000-year record of ice sheet’s motion
NSF-funded researchers at the University of Washington uncover an almost 6,000-year record of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet’s motion. The record suggests that the current localized thickening of the ice sheet is just a short-term event that may not affect the ice sheet over the long term.
