Charting path to cheaper flexible solar cells

Perovskite-based solar cells are flexible, lightweight, can be produced cheaply and could someday bring down the cost of solar energy. Recent research found that adding alkali metal to traditional perovskites leads to better performance, which could lead the way to devices that perform better.

This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation (grants CBET 16-05495, DMR 15-07803, DGE 11-22374, CHE 13-38173 and ECCS 15-42148).
