Quantum diamond microscope tracks changes in magnetic fields
Green lasers are pointed into the center of a manufactured diamond at the NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation at the University of Maryland. Researchers use nitrogen vacancies, defects found within the diamond’s molecular structure, to create quantum diamond microscopes that can track minute changes in magnetic fields.
