Colorized scanning electron microscope image of MXenes

A colorized scanning electron microscope image of tiny, finely layered metal structures known as MXenes, between which scientists can slip different ions for various purposes. These MXenes were grown using a simplified and less toxic method invented by researchers and hold promise for future high-tech electronics or energy storage.
