LIGO's vacuum chamber when quantum-squeezing technology is operational and pumped with green laser l
Researchers at NSF's Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory report a significant advancement in a quantum technology called "squeezing" that allows them to measure undulations in space-time across the entire range of gravitational frequencies detected by LIGO. Pictured here is the vacuum chamber at LIGO, photographed through a viewport when quantum-squeezing technology was operating and pumped with green laser light.
