A longwing butterfly (Heliconius erato)

A longwing butterfly (Heliconius erato) rests on a Lantana flower. Its wing patterns have been modified through CRISPR gene editing, which removed a crucial RNA molecule, leading to the loss of melanic scales (or black pigment).
