Based in the Philippines, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is the oldest and largest international agricultural research institute in Asia. It is an autonomous, nonprofit rice research and training organization with staff based in 14 countries in Asia and Africa.
The National Science Foundation has provided support to the IRRI in different capacities, including support for a database system that provides integrated management of global information on genetic resources and crop cultivars, and through programs like the Plant Genome Research Program.
