This visualization shows 24 hours of flight traffic. This visualization of the flight patterns of the thousands of airplanes that cross our skies on a daily basis was tied for first place in the Non-interactive Media (screen shots) category of the Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge 2006, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the journal Science.
