Kraken Supercomputer
The Kraken supercomputer at the University of Tennessee (UT), one of the fastest in the world. In 2009, Kraken--the result of a $65 million grant to UT from the National Science Foundation--became only the fourth computers in history to perform more than 1,000 trillion calculations per second, known as a petaflop.
