Wil Wheaton and Stan Lee announce the winners of "Generation Nano: Small Science, Superheroes"
The National Science Foundation and the National Nanotechnology Initiative recently concluded the first "Generation Nano: Small Science, Superheroes" competition. They challenged high school students to think big -- or really, think small -- and create a unique superhero with nanotechnology-enabled gear. In addition to a written portion, students were asked to draw a short comic or produce a short video to showcase their superhero and tell their hero's story. The three finalists traveled to the USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D. C., to present their entries to a panel of expert judges. After careful deliberation, the winners were selected and announced at an awards ceremony hosted by actor Wil Wheaton during the festival. The iconic comic creator, Stan Lee, who has supported the competition from the beginning, made a virtual guest appearance at the awards show. Read more about our winners.
