FORECAST leverages both student-actionable talent and community-focused resilience science to develop cohorts of scientists cross-trained in engaged research. A key focus is building entrepreneurial and innovation capacity for scholars from historically excluded groups and scholars at Emerging Research Institutions, or ERIs. One main goals is to facilitate transitions from status-quo graduate career preparation to student-centered models. The program will support intentional professional development for rising undergraduate seniors and graduate students as well as capacity building at Emerging Research Institutions. FORECAST participants will receive stipends based on the U.S. Government Pay Scale; both undergraduate and graduate scholars will be paid livable wages.
