A new National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine report, “Understanding and Predicting the Gulf of Mexico Loop Current”, which can be found at…

…was released last week by the Gulf Research Program. The report identifies existing knowledge gaps about the Loop Current System and outlines recommendations for an international, multi-institutional campaign of complementary research involving observations, modeling, and analysis activities that would help improve understanding and prediction of the Loop Current System.

There will be a webinar occurring next week where you can learn more about the recently released consensus report and the Gulf Research Program’s upcoming funding opportunities related to it.
