3rd Annual Frontiers in Ocean Sciences Symposium, June 28, 2021, 1-5:30PM ET
May 26, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
On Monday, June 28, 2021 from 1-5:30PM ET the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Ocean Sciences will hold the 3rd Frontiers in Ocean Sciences Symposium.
The theme of this year’s virtual symposium is The Future of the Oceans.
Featured at the symposium will be a line-up of early career rising stars who will speak about their ground-breaking research and the future of the oceans. The symposium will also include three of last year’s speakers returning for an alumni panel discussion.
Speakers at this year’s symposium include:
•Dr Tamara Pico, who works on ice sheet and sea-level reconstructions on glacial timescales.
•Dr Jacqueline Padilla-Gamiño, who studies the impacts of climate change on marine organism physiology and reproduction.
•Dr Melissa Omand, who investigates nutrient and organic carbon fluxes in physical oceanography processes.
•Dr Nikki Traylor-Knowles, who researches the impacts of climate change and other human-induced stressors on cnidarian immune systems.
The alumni panel consists of:
•Dr Hilary Palevsky, Boston College
•Dr Jessica Tierney, University of Arizona
•Dr Phil Bresnahan, University of North Carolina Wilmington
We gratefully appreciate you sharing the attached flyer advertising the symposium with your friends and colleagues.
Sincerely,
Terry Quinn
