NSF/AGS Mid-Day Updates

Colleagues,

We hope you are well.  Included in this email are several relevant announcements and funding opportunities.  We strongly encourage our community to pay attention to the solicitations that are coming out of our new Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) Directorate.  This is going to be a center of attention and activity as we move forward.

Funding Opportunities

 Announcements

 The Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) has set up a new SurveyMonkey link to allow individuals to identify themselves as a potential reviewer or panelist.  Please see additional information here.

  • The next GEO-Empowering BRoader Academic Capacity and Education (GEO-EMBRACE) drop-in Virtual Office Hour (VOH) is Thursday, May 18that 1pm eastern.  Information and registration can be found here.   

 AGS Staffing Updates

  •  Dr. Shikha Raizada has joined AGS as Aeronomy Program Director.  Dr. Raizada is a rotator from the University of Central Florida and spent much of her career at the Arecibo Observatory where she has been utilizing simultaneous incoherent scatter radar and lidar observations to study ionosphere-atmosphere interactions.
  • Dr. Soumaya Belmecheri has returned to the University of Arizona after serving at NSF as a rotator in the Paleoclimate Program and as the Acting Section Head for the Atmosphere Section.  We thank Soumaya for her service.
  • Dr. Yu Gu has been appointed the Acting Section Head role for the Atmosphere Section effective immediately.
  • Dr. Sarah Ruth has been appointed the Acting Section Head for Antarctic Sciences in the Office of Polar Programs effective June 1, 2023.  
  • Mr. Bernard Grant has been appointed the Acting Section Head for the NCAR and Facilities Section in AGS effective June 1, 2023.
