Get to Know GEO - Office Hour Series

July 10, 2023

Join National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) staff remotely once a month for Get to Know GEO, a new virtual conversational series to help connect the research and education community with program staff.

On Tuesday, July 25, from 1-2 PM ET, you are invited to discuss NSF/GEO Budget Priorities and get introduced to GEO’s newest division, RISE, as the first part of the office hours series. Each office hour will be staffed by multiple GEO staff members and expert guests to help you learn more about GEO priority areas, scientific and educational programs, funding opportunities, and the NSF grants process.

NSF staff will lead discussions on specific GEO-related themes and topics—such as the merit review process, tips to write a successful proposal, and new priority and program opportunities. Questions on NSF or GEO topic will also be answered during open discussion.

Future conversation topics will be posted on the GEO homepage Announcementsand shared via the GEO Directorate/Division newsletters.

To participate in July’s discussion, please register here.

With a fiscal year 2023 budget of $9.5 billion, NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives more than 40,000 competitive proposals and makes about 11,000 new awards.
