NSF Big Idea: Growing Convergence Research Informational Webinar - March 14, 3:00 pm EDT
March 8, 2024
Convergence research is a means for solving vexing research problems, in particular, complex problems focusing on societal needs or deep scientific challenges. It entails integrating knowledge, methods, and expertise from different disciplines and developing novel paradigms that catalyze scientific discovery and innovation.
The U.S. National Science Foundation Growing Convergence Research (GCR) Program team is excited to announce an upcoming funding opportunity webinar. The GCR solicitation (NSF 24-527) targets multidisciplinary teams who are embracing convergence research as a means of developing highly innovative solutions to complex research problems.
In this session, Toolbox Dialogue Initiative will host a discussion with the NSF GCR Program team and past GCR awardees. Topics will include highlights from the revised solicitation, conceptualizing convergence, and operationalizing convergence. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
Please forward this information to people in your institution and professional network who might be interested and invite them to sign up here for the NSF GCR mailing list to receive notifications of future solicitations and events.
We look forward to your participation and engagement in this informative event on:

The U.S. National Science Foundation propels the nation forward by advancing fundamental research in all fields of science and engineering. NSF supports research and people by providing facilities, instruments and funding to support their ingenuity and sustain the U.S. as a global leader in research and innovation. With a fiscal year 2023 budget of $9.5 billion, NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives more than 40,000 competitive proposals and makes about 11,000 new awards. Those awards include support for cooperative research with industry, Arctic and Antarctic research and operations, and U.S. participation in international scientific efforts.
