What percentage of U.S. public high school students graduate on time?

On-time graduation rates for public school students overall climbed above 80% in school year 2011-12.

• On-time graduation rates increased for all racial/ethnic groups between 2007-08 and 2011-12.
• Asians/Pacific Islanders had the highest on-time graduation rates in 2011-12, followed by whites.
• Hispanics improved their graduation rates by 12 percentage points from 2007-08 to 2011-12; rates for blacks rose by 7 percentage points.
• Graduation rates of black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native students continued to be below the rates of white and Asian/Pacific Islander students.
