Dear Colleague:

The National Science Foundation's Directorate for Social, Behavioral & Economic Sciences is pleased to announce a change in the Developmental and Learning Sciences (DLS) program in the Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences. Effective October 1, 2016 the DLS program, PD 08-1698, became the Developmental Sciences (DS) program. The DS program will continue to support research that addresses developmental processes within the domains of cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development across the lifespan by working with any appropriate populations for the topics of interest including infants, children, adolescents, and adults (see PD 08-1698) (https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=8671).

Basic research on learning will now be supported by the Science of Learning (SL) program (see PD 16-004Y) (https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5567). The Science of Learning program supports basic theoretical insights and fundamental knowledge about learning principles, processes and constraints.

Please refer to the respective Program Directors for any clarifications and additional information. Please note that proposals that were submitted in the FY 2016 due dates are not affected by these changes.
